10 Best WWE Women Wrestlers Of 2016

7. Natalya

For want of a better description, Natalya had a very 'Natalya' year in 2016. The daughter of Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart featured in some forgettable storylines, was screwed over in a number of championship matches and turned heel or face or maybe both. Natalya was there, she did what Natalya did.

But closer inspection paints a prettier picture. Natalya has settled into an enforcer type role, a talent that is recognisable to the crowd and can perform as a heel or a face, depending on the situation. 2016 showed all the sides of the Natalya coin, and thankfully none of these involved flatulence.

Natalya's matches with Charlotte over the Women's Championship were a lot of fun, and her heel turn against Becky Lynch was well done despite being somewhat predictable. It will be interesting to see how Natalya is received when her career comes to an end, whether she will be seen as an eternally underrated talent or someone knew their role and performed it well.

2016 saw more of the same from Natalya, and 2017 will surely follow suit.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
