7. The Miz

Raise your hand if you predicted The Miz would be on a list of best wrestlers of the half-year some six months ago.

Put your hands down, liars.

The Miz rebounded from irrelevancy early in 2016 to reestablish himself as one of the most entertaining characters in the industry. A master of the mic and arguably the most effective heel in WWE, he has enjoyed a career renaissance of sorts since January.

First, he forced fans to sit up and take notice to just how evolved an in-ring performer he is through a series of matches with AJ Styles that actually had The Phenomenal One singing the former WWE champion's praises in various media appearances.

From there, he crushed the hopes and dreams of every Zack Ryder fan, beating Long Island Iced Z in a solid match the night after WrestleMania 32 to capture the Intercontinental Championship. A series of defenses against Cesaro delivered extraordinary results, with the Cleveland native never looking out of place against the superb Swiss performer. That would not have been the case previously.

Other performances against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have also solidified Miz's status as one of the comeback wrestlers of the year. With a character that is so easily detestable and a brand extension upcoming that should net him the opportunity to rise even further up the ranks, do not be surprised to find the current IC champion higher on this list when 2016 comes to an end.
