10 Big Bumping Wrestlers Who SUFFERED For Their Art
5. Shane McMahon
Few have done more to combat claims of nepotism than Shane McMahon, who was born into a billion-dollar business but behaves like a substitute member of the Jackass gang, a gimmick which could only be topped by Ted DiBiase stapling $100 bills to his nipples.
Shane’s standout moment as a risk-taker came when he fell from the Titantron at SummerSlam 2000, which was followed by him actively leaping from the entrance stage at Backlash 2001. In-ring, he proved his worth, during his clash with Kurt Angle at King of the Ring 2001. The Olympian hit Shane with a belly-to-belly suplex through a pane of glass. However, after a backstage mix-up, safety glass was used rather than sugar glass.
Shane has plunged from the Cell twice, finding an empty announcer’s table both times. The first at WrestleMania 32 left Shane with an umbilical hernia due to the unexpected force of the impact. Now an old hand at death-defying drops, his second plunge at Hell in a Cell 2017 only resulted in bruised ribs. Even Mick Foley commented "he's probably the bravest guy I know, he's absolutely fearless […] He's got children, I just hope he doesn't do it again".
