10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Extreme Rules 2021
4. Edge Goes Over Rollins
Let's be clear, Edge has been a real MVP for WWE this summer.
With his incredible return in 2020 being heartbreakingly interrupted by the global pandemic and a torn tricep, Edge in 2021 has been one of WWE's most reliable performers. Returning to face Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank, Edge stripped off the grit infused veteran gimmick to return to his more charismatic self.
But he shouldn't win his feud with Seth Rollins.
Like Edge, Rollins has been having an understatedly great year, having grown into his role as the egotistical heel and delivering some of his best in-ring for a few years. Without the burden of being the top guy, Rollins has become a weekly highlight on SmackDown, with his promo last week all the proof you need for how great he is in his current role.
With the two men tied at one apiece, Rollins needs to win this blow-off encounter and the feud. It will likely be announced this Friday and will almost definitely be a gimmick match. But what? Surely after last year's panning from the watching world, we won't be forced to watch Seth Rollins try and pop Edge's eye from his skull?
Oh wait...with all this con-chair-to stuff... it's going to be a damn Chair Match isn't it?
