Finn Balor overcame Seth Rollins last night to become the very first WWE Universal Champion. The Irishman also became the first man in WWE history to win a world championship in their first pay-per-view match, as the monster push that Balor has received since arriving in WWE continues.

The match itself was a lot of fun - two of the best in the world going at it on a big stage pretty much guarantees that.

But how in the name of all that is pure have WWE managed to make Demon Balor less interesting and exciting? Well, it shouldn't really surprise anyone. WWE has a tendency to find something extremely cool and then batter it into the ground until it draws only groans and hand movements.

We saw it with 'Suplex City', and now we're seeing it with 'Demon King'. Balor's demon was so thrilling because it was protected, it only came out at certain times, it was spoken about in hushed tones. With Cole, Graves and Saxton blathering on repeating those two words - 29 times from entrance to finish last night - they are creating a situation where one simply doesn't care about the demon.

Heck, I'd rather see Demon Kane at this point...

Actually no. I take that back.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
