10 Big Mistakes WWE Will Probably Make Before 2017
3. Releasing Paige
Paige is in a bad way at the moment. A Wellness Policy violation saw her suspended for 30 days on August 18th, and she’s been dealing with undisclosed injury troubles for the past few months. She’s barely featured on WWE television since last year’s disastrous Charlotte feud, and the rise in prominence of wrestlers like Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch has seen her fall to an all-time low in WWE’s pecking order.
Her contract runs until 2019, but with her boyfriend (and fellow suspension victim) Alberto Del Rio allegedly looking for a way out of WWE, there are strong rumours that WWE will cut their losses with Paige and bid her an early farewell. Here’s hoping they don’t, because she’s a multi-talented performer with name value, whose diminished status has more to do with the company’s actions than her own; she can still play a big role in the division.
There’s not much going on on Raw’s women’s division outside of Charlotte, Bayley, and Banks. The rest of the roster are either unseasoned or unsuitable for a bigger role, and Paige, as a former Divas Champion, should really be at the forefront. Much depends on her injury status, but WWE would be foolish to let her leave with Alberto when her suspension expires.
