10 Big Signings WWE Must Make In 2017

3. Matt Hardy

Few fans would’ve been excited by the prospect of Matt Hardy potentially returning to WWE at the start of the year. The former WWE Tag Team Champion was treading water in TNA, and while far from over the hill, his performances were nothing to write home about. That all changed with the advent of “Broken” Matt Hardy, and after the Final Deletion and all the mania that’s followed, Hardy is now one of the most sought after wrestlers in the world.

Hardy’s Broken brilliance should have been too weird and outlandish to succeed. It’s one of the most over-the-top characters the sport has ever seen, and while many doubted its longevity, Matt’s popularity endures. His reinvention has drawn eyes to TNA at a time when the company badly needs them, and with the company set to present Total Nonstop Deletion from Hardy’s compound next week, things are only going to get weirder.

Hardy revealed in a recent interview with Jim Ross that his TNA contract expires in February 2017. It was reported a few months ago that WWE were looking to pick him up when this happens, and they’d be wise to capitalise on his upsurge in popularity. Who knows what WWE would do to his absurd gimmick, but wouldn't it be DELIGHTFUL to hear a Raw or SmackDown arena fill with chants of “DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!”?
