10 Big Signings WWE Must Make In 2017
4. Chris Hero
Things could have panned-out oh so differently for Chris Hero’s career. As Kassius Ohno, Hero was originally pegged for Roman Reigns’ spot in The Shield in CM Punk’s original vision for the stable, but Vince McMahon disagreed. Reigns took the place and his since become a multi-time WWE Champion, while Hero was released in 2013 and now finds himself back on the independent circuit.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. Hero has had an outrageously good 2016, and barely a week passes without him delivering a great wrestling match. He has worked all across the globe in 2016, and as the year comes to a close, it’s tough to think of a wrestler who’s had a stronger 12 months. Hero’s matches with the likes of Marty Scurll and Tomohiro Ishii have made him independent wrestling’s MVP, and his WWE return is long overdue.
There are a lot of rumours surrounding his WWE departure, but nobody other than the performer and company know for sure why he departed. Still, Hero has a good relationship with NXT’s William Regal, and if recent social media rumblings are to be believed, he’s not taking independent bookings in 2017. Could Hero be on his way back to the big time? Here’s hoping, because he’s one of the absolute best in the world.
