10 Big Talking Points From WWE Survivor Series 2017

1. Just Rename It The McMahon Show…

Of all the talking points to take from Survivor Series, perhaps the most notable was how McMahon-centric the show was.

Within the first 70 minutes of the evening, we’d already seen two Stephanie McMahon appearances, despite the fact that she wasn’t officially involved in any of the matches. And of course, the main event revolved heavily around the McMahon family, with son-in-law Triple H stealing the show and Shane outlasting Orton, Cena, Roode and Nakamura to become the final member of Team SmackDown.

At the risk of sounding conspiratorial, it just felt like the company was trying too hard to remind who runs the show and who the top stars really are.

That’s not to say they had to refrain from booking Triple H’s antics entirely—but there would’ve been nothing stopping them from staging that spot earlier in the main event, and allowing the other talent to fill out the rest of the match and give the evening a vastly more satisfying conclusion.

As it happens, though, once again we find ourselves awaiting Raw and hoping for an explanation from Stephanie and co. as to why this whole thing went down like it did.

Someone once said that the only constant is change. I guess they weren’t watching WWE…
