10 Big WWE Returns That Could Happen In 2022

8. Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury's solitary WWE match, a defeat of Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel 2019, was one of that year's most widely criticised. The heavyweight boxing champion entered a fumbling performance opposite his giant opponent, who was counted out after being smacked off the apron via knockout punch - but it mattered little.

Strowman vs. Fury was about boosting star power for a Saudi Arabian audience that values name value above all else. Fury, who appeared on WWE programming a handful of times in the build-up, was reported to have earned a $15 million payday for the bout, though whether or not the company would write such a hefty cheque under Nick Khan's austere Chief Revenue Officer tenure is questionable.

Nonetheless, Fury remains in touch with Vince McMahon, and his wife, Paris, thinks a comeback is inevitable. That Tyson and Drew McIntyre have both taken kayfabe shots at each other over the past few years adds further fuel to the fire.

If it happens (and it likely will), expect WWE to do something with Fury either in his native United Kingdom or Saudi Arabia, where the purse strings are looser.
