10 Big WWE Reveals Nobody Honestly Cared About
2. Rikishi Did It...For The Rock
Where were you when 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin was run down by a car? That's not an accusatory question, but rather a chance to fondly reminisce about the greatest whodunit in the history of sports entertainment - or maybe even, the world! OK, so maybe that's hyperbole, but it's what WWE would have had you believe for 12 months as their top cash cow sat at home injured as a result of a kayfabe hit and run. But who on the WWE roster would be evil enough to commit such a heinous - and illegal - act?
The obvious choice was Triple H, while others suspected Y2J. There was even a rumour circulating that it could be Billy Gunn, who was in the midst of a push to become a top level heel, but there was no way WWE would make such a terrible choice when the moment came to tell the world. Right?
Wrong! After a huge build in what can only be described as a star making feud, the culprit was eventually revealed to be The Rock. Not that he knew anything about it, because it was actually Rikishi who claimed to have done it to help The Rock become the number one star in the company.
Eventually, Triple H would turn out to be the ultimate mastermind, but this only came about after the huge backlash against this inexplicably poor storytelling that pretty much derailed Rikishi's run at the top of WWE forever.
