10 Biggest Beneficaries Of WWE Talking Smack
2. Baron Corbin
Baron Corbin was floating around on SmackDown Live for the better part of the last six months of 2016, competing in meaningless matches against Apollo Crews and Jack Swagger. He was kept undefeated, but he was suffering from a lack of direction.
That changed on the 18 October edition of Talking Smack when he went off on Daniel Bryan and Renee Young in an effort to defend his lonely lifestyle. That was when the real Baron Corbin shined through, giving us a glimpse of what he was actually like outside the ring as well as giving fans a reason to invest in him. What's interesting is that most fans already knew he kept to himself based off his appearances on WWE Breaking Ground a year prior, but that was never tapped into on WWE TV until then.
It was an fantastic promo from Corbin as he discussed not having passion for the business and making it to WWE on a phone call. He rode that wave of momentum in the months that followed, beating Kalisto in a Chairs match at TLC and contending for the WWE Championship on the final SmackDown Live of the year.
Here's hoping Corbin can continue the roll he's been on despite Talking Smack no longer being a weekly series.
