10 Biggest Flops In WWE History

9. Steve Williams

'Dr Death' Steve Williams has long been considered as one of the biggest "nearly men" in WWF history. A no nonsense badass with an ironclad wrestling pedigree, 'Doc' was one man you wouldn't want to be caught opposite in a bar brawl. All of which made him the bookies' favourite to win the ill-fated Brawl For All competition in 1998.

Widely rumoured to be a future candidate for 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's WWF Championship, Williams wound up being the primary casualty of the Brawl For All tournament (and there were many.) Instead of walking through the competition to a lucrative main event feud with 'The Rattlesnake', Williams got knocked out by eventual winner, Bart Gunn, in the second round. Worse still, 'Doc' wound up tearing his hamstring in the process.

With a torn hamstring, a bruised ego, and a battered reputation, 'Dr Death' was forced to sit out the rest of 1998 on the sidelines. When he returned, he entered into a brief storyline with JR but was gone soon after. His final bout took place on Shotgun Saturday Night, with victory over Tiger Ali Singh.

Williams did make a very brief return to the WWE in 2003, wrestling Lance Storm on two house shows in Louisiana. A modest homecoming for one of WWE's biggest missed opportunities.
