2. Mania Is (Not) Jericho! - WrestleMania 2000

A McMahon in every corner!

Still, those words have the power to send shivers down even the most hardened of wrestling fans' spines.

This was the tagline for the main event of WrestleMania 2000 - a four-way elimination match for the WWE title between champion Triple H, Royal Rumble winner The Rock, actual Royal Rumble winner Big Show, and recent retiree Mick Foley.

But, in an alternate timeline, a certain Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla would have been in the mix instead.

Promotional material exists clearly displaying Chris Jericho in place of Mick Foley in the four-way match-up. Y2J himself has said that, whilst he was never expressly told he was going to be in the match, the clues were all there that this was the case.

And then, all of a sudden, Foley was in. So what happened? Quite simply, Vince McMahon didn't believe that Jericho could main event WrestleMania. Was this because he was ex-WCW? Was this because he was too small? We'll never know.

Ah well, at least Jericho got to main event Mania two years later. Although, with the quality of that match, he kinda proved Vince right...
