Kurt Angle fought through a broken neck and Brock Lesnar nearly snapped his for their WrestleMania XIX classic. For both their sake, his feud deserved a thrilling conclusion, basically, and in September 2003 it got it.

The pair had evidently learned the lessons of the fall-starved WrestleMania XII main event. Instead of practising caution, Brock Lesnar sacrified the first fall by getting himself disqualified, before opening up what seemed to be an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the first quarter.

But Angle, never one to lay down and die, fought back against the odds, neutralising his opponent's dirty approach with masterful wrestling and a never-say-die spirit. In the end, nearly but not quite forcing him to submit to the Angle Lock, just as the 60-minute mark came into view.

For sheer drama and nail-biting tension, there is perhaps no better match in all of WWE history. If these two never lock horns again - and there's a good chance they won't - we'll at least be able to say that we watched them go the distance in their hey-day.
