10 Biggest Missed Opportunities From AEW So Far
7. Not Doing More With Private Party
In one of the first major moments of AEW Dynamite, The Young Bucks faced the relatively unknown tag team of Private Party in the tournament to crown the first ever AEW tag champions. The match was incredible, one of the best TV matches of 2019 and ended with a surprising upset victory for the underdogs Marq Quen and Isiah Kassady. It seemed to signal gigantic things for the twosome.
In the 11 months since that match, Private Party haven’t been given the opportunities to fulfil that initial promise. While they’ve been on television more recently, with Marq Quen challenging Cody, and the two working with FTR to create a brilliant tag match, the potential of their debut hasn’t been matched yet. They’ve only had one major PPV opportunity, in a tag team triple threat at Full Gear where they didn’t get to show off their unique psychology and tag team chemistry.
Despite the potential for them to be major players in the division, they’ve been treated as perennial midcarders, taking frequent losses and never being given true characterisation on television to elevate their positions on the card. It’s a shame and hopefully when audiences properly return, Private Party can embark on the run they’re capable of.
