9. Cody Rhodes

While the legitimacy of Cody Rhodes’ release has been questioned a lot lately, and there’s every chance he’ll re-emerge in the future, there’s no doubt WWE have thrown a potential megastar away.

He’s the son of Dusty Rhodes (one of the most respected figures in wrestling history), a great microphone worker and actor, and an underrated wrestler. Whether portraying the ill-fated Stardust character or acting as one half of The Rhodes Scholars, Cody threw his heart and soul into everything he did, and WWE let him slip through their fingers.

“Stardust” had ran its course a long time ago. A change was long overdue, but instead of granting Cody that wish, WWE let him leave. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised: WWE had a great opportunity to “make” Cody Rhodes while feuding with his elder brother, Goldust, but the storyline faded out, and so did Cody’s WWE career.
