10 Biggest Red Flags Waving In WWE Right Now
8. NXT Losing Its Lustre
...because there have been increasingly few reasons to tune into NXT for the past few months.
If this writer may, in the words of CM Punk, "Do a Hogan" and inject himself into this narrative: it does feel like this article jinxed WWE's white and gold brand. Almost immediately after this writer exulted about how WWE pulled NXT out of the quagmire of the much-derided 2.0 era, WWE's developmental show began a precipitous decline in quality.
The reasons why are, thankfully, easy to spot and fix. Trick Williams' second run as NXT champion was stymied by both his inability to develop in the ring and a poor choice of opponents (Ridge Holland threatened to ignite, but never got there). The themed episodes and returning legends were horribly disappointing (a point that'll be returned to later), and the women's division was stuck in a holding pattern with Roxanne Perez having accomplished everything she could as champion long before she dropped the belt.
Fortunately the recent New Year's Evil provided a clean slate for 2025, with new champions in both the men's and women's divisions. Here's hoping WWE keeps the momentum going for the rest of the year! (Although if it does, someone less cursed than this writer can pen the article about it).
