4. Billy Gunn

Billy Gunn’s most famous work came as part of the New Age Outlaws during the Attitude Era, but he was a successful tag team wrestler prior to that. Billy teamed with his kayfabe brother Bart as one half of the Smoking Gunns prior to linking up with Road Dogg, and the duo were three-time WWE Tag Team Champions together.

The Outlaws formed in 1997, and eventually became major players in one of wrestling’s most successful eras. Gunn and Road Dogg were a fundamental part of Attitude’s tag scene, and their partnership reaped huge benefits. They’ve amassed five Tag Team Title reigns together (with the most recent coming in 2014), and Gunn has two further reigns alongside Chuck Palumbo to his name.

The duo continued working together in TNA and on the independent scene following their initial WWE departures, and Billy was most recently seen competing in NJPW’s 2016 World Tag League alongside Yoshitatsu. He was subject to a number of attempted singles pushes throughout his WWE run, and even became King of the Ring in 1999, but he never really caught-on as a solo act. A tremendous athlete, Gunn was always better suited to working as one half of a duo.
