10 BIGGEST Wrestling Events Ever
9. WrestleMania 29
You're in for a run of WrestleManias now.
Six years after 'Mania 23, it was time for an even bigger event. 74,300 packed into MetLife Stadium in... it must be in New York. The stage had the New York skyline, they said it was the fifth time the Granddaddy of Them All had been in New York, and they kept telling us that New York is the spiritual home of the company.
MetLife Stadium is in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
If they're not changing the attendance figures (they announced 80,676 for this one), they're altering the geography of the United States!
Anyway, this 'Mania is most famous for the outrageous twice in a lifetime match between The Rock and John Cena. It wasn't as good as their first match a year earlier, in all honesty, the whole event was a letdown. Brock Lesnar Vs. Triple H with The Game's career on the line had as obvious an outcome as the Rock-Cena II, Mark Henry Vs. Ryback wasn't anything fans wanted to see, and Fantango going over prime Chris Jericho was almost insulting.
The only saving grace was The Undertaker's last great match at WrestleMania: a classic against former All Elite Wrestling star CM Punk. With The Streak coming to an end 12 months later, the WWE Universe had no idea that this was the swansong for one of the most impressive runs in the business.
