10 Biggest Wrestling Scandals Of The 2010s

1. The Hulk Hogan Saga

The late Terry Bollea was always a problematic man. From his union-busting in the 1980s to his son Nick's car crash in 2007 to decades of political meddling backstage, the man behind the moustache was nothing like the all-American saviour he plays on screen.

The 2010s was when the Hulk Hogan myth fully crumbled. It all began when a sex tap featuring Hogan was published by Gawker in 2012. The icon launched a lawsuit against the gossip site, which turned out to be the worst decision of his career.

As part of the trial, more footage of Hogan came to light. This included a clip of him using multiple racist slurs. Even though his suspension from WWE would eventually be lifted, there was no coming back from this. Hogan, arguably the most important wrestler in history, now had a cloud over his head that could never be removed. He had outed himself as a hateful bigot and, to make matters worse, made no effort to truly apologise for his actions, instead notably telling fellow wrestlers to watch for being recorded instead.
