10 Biggest WWE Changes Since Daniel Bryan Last Wrestled
9. Fractured But Whole
Daniel Bryan made no secret of the fact that he was forced away from doing the thing he loved. Throughout 2015 and 2016, WWE resolutely stood firm on not clearing him to wrestle despite countless reports from his own doctors that he was definitely good to go.
His overarching frustration manifested itself in interesting fashion. Kept on television by virtue of his 'Talking Smack' presenter role and a spot as SmackDown Live! General Manager, Bryan used his platform to speak honestly and openly about the WWE he saw in front of him - not the one he was necessarily scripted to assess.
This devil-may-care attitude was born out of rebellious discontent with the company, but predictably further strengthened his relationship with his own fans. Still the true voice of the audience even from the sidelines, Bryan's anger was at least channelled entertainingly. Post-return, he'll undoubtedly be thankful to WWE for always trying to do the best for him, even when it seemed as though they were stubbornly suppressing the dreams he was fighting for.
His view hasn't changed during his time on the shelf, but he has at least been able to expand the horizons upon which he gazes. A bona fide star and magnificent talent, he's also brave enough to stand up for what he believes in. That competitive streak should serve him well upon his official return.
