10 Biggest WWE Missed Opportunities In SummerSlam History

6. The Great Khali Retains World Title Against Batista In 2007

The Great Khali has never exactly been considered great by many WWE fans. The seven foot Punjabi Nightmare had been booked as an unstoppable monster in 2007 and it was that image that led to him becoming the World champion. While his title run should have been filled with one impressive victory after another, the fact is that his inability in the ring was clearly evident from the very beginning. So when Batista stepped up to face Khali at SummerSlam that year, many WWE fans likely believed that a title change was definitely in the cards. The Animal seemed to be the right man for the job and honestly, fans were anxious to see it happen. However, that title change did not occur as Batista won by disqualification. Even though he did eventually best Khali for the World Heavyweight Title at Unforgiven, the fact was that virtually no one wanted to see the giant as champion to begin with. Batista may have later been seen as an arrogant out-of-touch Superstar but in 2007, he was still a top face in the company. There was no better choice to take Khali down than The Animal and when it finally did happen, the WWE faithful surely breathed a sigh of relief. Of course, that title win was expected at SummerSlam and unfortunately, it did not happen.
