Earlier this summer it was an open secret that WWE were poised to make a number of big name signings, both internationally and from the American independents. Kevin Steen, Prince Devitt and KENTA were all signed to developmental deals and have since debuted, or are set to debut on NXT. One name that never made it that far is Willie Mack, much to the disappointment of his fans. Mack is best known for his work in Californias Pro Wrestling Guerrila promotion, and is one of the few homegrown stars in a company that often relies too heavily on West Coast talent. Towards the end of this year's Battle of Los Angeles event, PWG's huge three-day tournament, Mack gave an emotional goodbye speech to his devoted fans. He thanked them for their support, and then bid farewell to his home promotion as he prepared to report to the WWE Performance Center. In September of this year, Willie Mack passed his medical for WWE and everything seemed set for him to make the big move. A month went by without any news, and on October 13th amid rampant rumours, Mack released a statement confirming that WWE had chosen not to employ him at this time. This isnt the first time WWE has done something like this, as they hired Cesaro briefly in 2006 but released him before he ever began at developmental. Hopefully theyll give Mack another chance like they did with Cesaro and it wont be too long before hes wowing audiences on NXT.
