After eliminating ECW in February 2010, there was suddenly less space for what was already a bloated roster to move around, so throughout the year, three sizable castaway sessions came to pass. The first was that February, when Maria Kanellis, Gregory Helms, Charlie Haas, and Paul Burchill were all released.

Three weeks after WrestleMania 26, another hefty group of talents would all go, most notably Haas' long-time partner Shelton Benjamin, as well as Mickie James. Funaki would exit after twelve years with the company, as would midcard dwellers Mike Knox and Ray "Jesse" Gordy.

That November, Shad Gaspard and future New Japan performers Luke Gallows and Vance Archer were part of a half-dozen names that would be cut, weeks before MVP would be released from the company. NXT Season 2 winner Kaval (Low-Ki) also requested his release just before Christmas.
