10 Biggest WWE Royal Rumble Disasters
3. Saying No To The Yes Movement - 2014
It’s difficult to pinpoint the single biggest issue with the 2014 Royal Rumble match, with the problems starting before the match had even begun following Daniel Bryan's loss to Bray Wyatt.
Fans clearly weren’t happy with the outcome, hence the chants of "Daniel Bryan" and "we want refunds" during John Cena and Randy Orton’s WWE Championship bout. But there was still time for WWE to make amends come the Rumble match itself.
Or not.
Rather than acquiescing to popular demand, WWE didn’t even book Bryan in the match. Instead of Bryan, Rey Mysterio came out at no. 30 and was promptly booed out of the building, which is remarkable enough given how big of a babyface Mysterio is.
From there, the boos never ceased, though there was still time for one last sucker punch as an unfortunately miscast Batista outlasted everyone else to win the Royal Rumble.
The company had completely shunned Bryan and his overwhelming popularity, all for the sake of pursuing its own preferred plans. Also, this proved to be CM Punk’s last-ever match in pro wrestling, which is a whole other story in its own right. All in all, a pretty woeful night at the office for WWE.
