10 Biggest WWF vs WCW Firing Shots During Monday Night Wars

7. Rick Rude Appears On Nitro And Raw On The Same Night

It's a moment in wrestling history that will never be repeated ever again: A wrestler appearing on two competing wrestling shows on the same night. Rick Rude had been a founding member of D-Generation X. As DX's insurance policy, Rude was working without a contract. He had retired as an active wrestling due to injury but was recently training for a comeback. However, the Montreal Screwjob occurred at Survivor Series 1997 and that changed the wrestling landscape forever. When Bret Hart was screwed out of the WWF title at the event, many wrestlers threatened to leave the company or not show up for Raw the following night. Rude was a man who could afford to stick to his word and he left the WWF, following Bret Hart to WCW. In one of the most surreal moments in wrestling history, Rude was able to appear on Raw and Nitro on the same night. Since Raw's episode had been taped, Rude's appearance on the show was already set in stone. On the other hand, Nitro was live so Rude was free to make his WCW debut while still taking part in the Raw show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChfWHf2w95o To really drive the point home, Rude shaved off the beard that he had been sporting throughout his WWF run. He made his WCW debut, insulted the World Wrestling Federation in his promo, and fired one more shot in the war.
