10 Bizarre Wrestling Epics That Didn’t Live Up To The Hype

6. Tag Team Apocalypto (TNA Total Nonstop Deletion)

Total Nonstop Deletion in general was a leap slightly too far into Matt Hardy's BROKEN universe in 2016, but TNA had succeeded in garnering huge attention off the back of his insane meanderings for long enough to justify the gamble.

Presented entirely from the North Carolinian "compound", the special edition of Impact was the last major moment for Matt and Jeff's insane alter-egos before the pair embarked on an "Expedition Of Gold" in 2017 that ultimately led them back to WWE in time to pop the actual universe at WrestleMania 33.

Apocalypto was the banter-heavy main event of a banter-centric show, with The Hardy Boyz putting their TNA World Tag Team Championship against any and all comers from wrestling's rich history and dirt poor independent scene. The Rock & Roll Express joined a host of doubles card-fillers from CWF Mid-Atlantic and TNA regulars The Decay, The Helms Dynasy and Rockstar Spud and Hornswoggle knocking about in stupid costumes.

It was silly-by-design, but foreshadowed a ceiling the gimmick would later hit when WWE got their hands on it.
