10 Booking Steps AEW Must Make Following Double Or Nothing 2021
3. Introduce The AEW Trios Championships
Surely, the AEW Trios Championships are coming this year, right?
The teases for this set of straps date back as far as before Winter Is Coming, with Tony Khan claiming the following:-
"If it happens, it will likely be in 2021. I've been seriously thinking about it. There's a lot of momentum for it and we have a lot of great trios teams. I'd like to get through 2020, to Beach Break, and moving towards Revolution, but it's definitely on my agenda, and it's something I've been talking about for a long time."
It makes sense, of course. The amount of stables in AEW is unreal, with the aforementioned Inner Circle and Pinnacle at the top of the pecking order, surrounded by Team Taz, the Dark Order, the Death Triangle, and a plethora of others. What's good is that they're continuing to add to this. The Factory are fast becoming a legitimately great aspect of weekly AEW programming. The Hardy Family Office are doing some alright things, led by one of wrestling's greatest tag team competitors. Peter Avalon's group of lads are around on Dark and, occasionally, on Dynamite.
That's without taking into account the working relationships that AEW have in place. Your writer would love to see Violent By Design head out of the IMPACT Zone and into Daily's Place. You can build an entire trios division just out of New Japan, like they've done themselves.
Essentially, the AEW Trios Championships could have come into play when they were teased in December, and been fine. Bring them in now, though, and they'll flourish. The timing for a new championship has never been more perfect. Don't waste it.
