10 Bowling Shoe Ugly Wrestling Matches

5. Earl Hebner vs. Nick Patrick (WWF Invasion 2001)

The Invasion Pay-Per-View was supposed to be a card stacked full of WCW/ECW talent facing their WWF counterparts. Unfortunately, the company had been unable to secure may of the top names fans associated with World Championship Wrestling. This led to a situation whereby the second match on the card was between referees, something many probably hadn't predicted happening. In the lead-up to the event, the WWF tried to sell the idea that the WWF officials didn't like the WCW ones coming into the promotion and stealing their spotlight. Earl Hebner led his gang against the WCW crew headed up by Nick Patrick. At Invasion, they would face off in a match during which Mick Foley was the Special Guest Referee. Mercifully, the clash was a short one. Lasting less than 3 minutes doesn't excuse it from examination however, Hebner vs. Patrick was still rotten. Rolling around the mat and trading some of the worst worked punches in history, the untrained workers struggled to even fill the 180 seconds allotted to them. The 'Invasion' angle failed overall, and this wasn't why, but it was still unsatisfying to watch.
