10 Burning Questions For WWE Raw (Aug 1)

8. Are More Squashes On The Way?

The splitting of the WWE roster has necessitated more able bodies for each program. That was achieved in part due to several NXT call-ups, but it also was helped along last week on Raw with a couple old-fashioned squash matches. We saw both Braun Strowman and Nia Jax win their matches against local competitors handily.

That kind of thing is necessary when you have diminished rosters, lest you beat the same eight wrestlers over and over and over, and then later wonder why you don’t have any stars on the roster. Sure, these kind of squash matches can be overdone, but one week in, it’s still a useful tool to put over new stars.

So will we see more of these squashes on Raw? Will some scrawny jobber be trotted out to be reverse chokeslammed into oblivion? Will a nondescript female competitor get leg-dropped back to the independent scene?
