10 Burning Questions For WWE Raw (Oct 3)

8. Will Fans Buy Wacky Tag Partners?

Only WWE could hold a best-of-seven series to determine which wrestler is physically dominant and deserve a vaguely defined title shot, and then deliver a tie that results in both men being forced into a tag team to vie for the tag titles.

Look, the wacky tag partners gimmick can work wonders. We saw the Rock & Sock Connection thrive, as well as Team Hell No. But both of those were different situations. Rock and Mankind were both top-level faces when they teamed up. And Kane and Daniel Bryan might have been heels of sorts, but they also engaged in a series of backstage vignettes that were among the funniest WWE had ever produced (anger management with Dr. Shelby, anyone?) to slowly set up the duo.

And while an international team of Cesaro and Sheamus might be awesome to watch once it gets rolling, you couldn’t help but groan when GM Mick Foley announced he was teaming the two up. It rendered their entire series practically meaningless. Maybe they will be really fun to watch in the coming weeks, but the start was badly executed. We’ll see what happens on Monday.
