10 Celebrities You Didn't Know Are Wrestling Fans
6. Gillian Jacobs
The Community and Love star is a favourite of the alternative comedy/hipster crowd, and accordingly it’s only right that she made her presence felt primarily at indie federation Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, where for a while she could frequently be spotted at shows.
A relatively recent convert to the squared circle, she admitted in an interview that she prefers the flashier in-ring workers to the more technical performers, and name-checked several of the indie fed’s then-roster members as particular favourites - Chris Hero, Kevin Steen, and El Generico.
An indie stalwart to the last, she expressed sorrow that the indie wrestler’s journey tends to see them end up at WWE, but wished Generico well on his move, then to NXT. The shout-out caught the attention of the man now known as Sami Zayn, who expressed a desire to date his fellow teetotaller.
Sadly nothing ever came of this - it would have sent a very small niche of the internet into complete 'shipping meltdown. Jacobs isn’t the only celeb to have frequented PWG for at least a while, but she’s one of the biggest.
