This one makes all the sense in the world, but it’s only recently (after successfully rebuilding his career) that the easy-going actor has discussed his deep love of sports entertainment. As a Texas native, the young McConaughey was in the right place to enjoy the heyday of the Von Erichs’ World Class Championship Wrestling, and he enjoyed it to the max.

McConaughey recently recounted the two times he was chucked out of WCCW shows for, essentially, acting like a big mark. He launched tomatoes at heel Skandor Akbar and spat at King Kong Bundy, receiving his marching orders each time.

A 2018 appearance on Graham Norton’s talkshow saw McConaughey reveal himself as a dyed in the wool fan, demonstrating his substantial Texas wrasslin’ knowledge to John Cena. He has also been spotted at WWE events alongside Lance Armstrong.

Just this year, he was kicking around the idea of stepping into the squared circle himself. While that would be a bridge too far for most inexperienced 51 year olds, for a man of McConaughey’s unerring positivity, you just never know.
