3. The Overrun
Devoting three hours of your life every single week to Raw is an immense amount of time. Most shows are a half-hour, or hour long. Major sports last a few hours, but they also have an off season. Not wrestling. Sure, an overrun was cool when Raw was two hours long and it was a hot product, but three hours and 15 minutes is often incredibly draining to sit through. Most fans have probably had their fill by the time that final last hour of the show comes up. But...we have to sit through an extra five to fifteen minutes to finish, so you can then go to bed, or watch another show, or do anything else with your life. From a reality standpoint, isnt it strange that SmackDown ends exactly at two hours, Main Event and NXT last exactly one hour and yet somehow, Raw goes beyond their three hour timeslot every single week? It doesn't have to be that way. When the show goes an extra 10 minutes it should be saved for major angles and important matches. Usually, though, we just see the same tired formula of The Authority vs. two top babyfaces over the past year and a half. That doesn't need to go any longer than necessary. WWE is already burning out a lot of their fans with their product. Since the three hour shows began, the audience has slowly eroded. Let the remaining viewers out as soon as possible, and try to leave them wanting a little more. That would be best for business in the long run. Cutting out that often unnecessary overrun would be a nice start.
Andrew Soucek
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
