10 Most Controversial 'Shoot' Comments From WWE TV

2. RVD Shoots At One Night Stand

The highly successful One Night Stand pay-per-view was RVD's idea but, unfortunately, couldn't compete on the show because he had recently undergone major reconstructive knee surgery. That wasn't going to stop RVD from making an impact, however, and 'Mr. Monday Night' delivered one of his best ever promos on the show, venting his frustrations at WWE and the backstage politics that he believed had been holding him down. Addressing the WWE Superstars who were located in the balcony, RVD said that he, like everyone in the arena, was sick of having their likeness shoved down his throat every time he wanted to watch wrestling. Van Dam talked about 'the office' being blind to ECW's success and said that he didn't have any 'creative geniuses' writing his words for him on the night. 'Remember when RVD had a vocabulary? When I had a voice' he asked Bill Alfonso rhetorically. That was a killer line and the audience gave him a superstar reaction. A lot of people thought this would be the start of a renewed push for Van Dam but he still needed to recover from surgery and didn't return until the Royal Rumble in 2006. Still, it was a hell of a shoot and the most passionate that RVD had looked through his entire WWE run.
