10 Most Controversial 'Shoot' Comments From WWE TV
6. Jim Cornette's 'The State Of Wrestling'
Jim Cornette is not afraid to speak his mind. Anyone who has seen one of his famed shoot interviews will attest to this. Cornette tells it like it is and isn't afraid of insulting or offending everyone. His foul-mouthed tirades have become the stuff of legend. Jim Cornette's 'State of Wrestling' promo from the December 29th 1997 Raw, while containing significantly less swearing, was classic Cornette. He said that he thought the wrestling business going into 1998, the WWF, WCW and the NWO all 'stinks' and labelled ECW 'an embarrassment'. Cornette continued to tear into the WWF product and drew attention to DX's keyfabe-destroying matches and skits and asked the question 'where is wrestling? Wrestling, not 'sports entertainment'' and said that wrestling had died because of WWF's 'nonsense'. There were a few Cornette addresses around this time but they ultimately fizzled out. Segments like this where well ahead of their time and Cornette was on scintillating form. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njzm6_LSdDw
