10 Coolest Things We'll Miss About TNA

6. TNA Offers A More Adult-Orientated Product...

Modern wrestling can do without chair shots to the head, broken glass on the knuckles, tasers and all that other barbarism that typified what could, with some justification, be called €˜The Hardcore Era€™ of professional wrestling €“ put simply, all that stuff has had its day. However, if only for plain, nuts and bolts believability, a little bit of blood and the odd hardway goes a lot towards establishing authenticity in the minds of the fans. TNA actually does this pretty well. Their shows can (and frequently do) feature foreign objects as well as old school violence and bloodshed of a kind that the new, respectable WWE would definitely not approve of. James Storm and Gunner had a great €˜I Quit€™ match at this year€™s Sacrifice PPV, which ended with Gunner gashing Storm€™s forehead with a shard of broken glass. Meanwhile, a couple of weeks back, when Jeff Hardy faced Bobby Lashley for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, he took a MAJORLY impressive fall by missing a Swanton Bomb to the outside and landing harshly on the steel steps below. Also, let€™s not forget Kurt Angle€™s valiant moonsault attempt from the top of the cage at this year€™s Genesis PPV. Not to be outdone, Eric Young celebrated his first TNA World title defence by being impaled on a pile of thumbtacks in his match with Abyss. Basically, TNA is more of an adult-themed show than WWE, which offers a refreshing alternative for older wrestling fans and disaffected €˜Attitude€™ era veterans.

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
