Jesus Christ is the timing of this just unbelievable.

The story goes that, when WWE pivoted to a PG direction in 2008, a meeting was held with talent ahead of the Great American Bash in order to disseminate new procedures, onscreen codes of conduct, things of that nature.

Future NXT "Rookie" and Nexus member Michael Tarver asked a question. Vince was enthusiastically polite in his response "Excellent question!" - but also probably a bit racist, since he also added "... Shelton", believing Tarver to be Shelton Benjamin and conflating the two black men who do not look remotely alike.

So, in the meeting Vince held to inform talent that the company was about to clean up its act, Vince said that. Everybody pissed themselves laughing, according to Brian 'Curt Hawkins' Myers, and Vince was mystified. Shelton did have an exceptionally amusing mother. Maybe, in that moment, he reminded them of her! Yes Vince said, that must be it. Nobody would ever laugh at me!

Myers also revealed the incredulous reaction of one Mark Henry, who wondered aloud, watching the pre-taped Parking Lot Brawl, whether "murder was PG" when JBL set fire to a car with John Cena inside of it.

It was only attempted. So that's fine.
