Until this week's WWE Backstage, all had been eerily quiet on the CM Punk front lately in regards to actually seeing him on television.

Sure, the Second City Saint may have been extremely vocal on Twitter - hey, Miz! - but his actual on-screen presence has been minimal. Despite Punk's appearances on WWE Backstage seeing a spike in the ratings for that FS1 show, he's been scarcely used and his appearances have rarely been acknowledged on main WWE programming.

This could mean one of two things. Either this agreement between Punk and FOX is destined to be a short-lived one and has merely served to reiterate to the multiple-time World Champion that he really is done with wrestling, or the Chicago native is being kept out of the spotlight ahead of an in-ring return.

This could well be pie in the sky - crazy theories, right? - but Daniel Bryan's recent comments about wanting a WrestleMania match with CM Punk at some point down the line could just be a bonkers enough idea to become reality.

Punk and Bryan have a long, long history dating back to the pair's Ring Of Honor days, and seeing such a contest take place on the Grandest Stage of Them All would be a genuine dream match for a certain section of the wrestling world - CM Punk screwing over D-Bry in his Royal Rumble match against 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt would certainly be one way to get to that dream match.
