10 Creepiest Gimmicks In Wrestling Right Now

3. 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt (WWE Raw)

Bray Wyatt’s ‘The Fiend’ persona takes wresting to those outlandish, suspend your disbelief, levels that whips up fan interest. In the duality of Fun House Bray and The Fiend, Wyatt has managed to distil not only the irrational fears of childhood, but also the comfort of being a kid, relaxing and watching ever-happy TV presenters preach over-simplified lessons. He plays upon his ability to manipulate people, seemingly targeting children, without going to that suspect place of Dustin Rhodes' Seven.

Though the plotline of “the monster within” is vastly explored, the Fun House gimmick is unique, and his monster is particularly horrifying. Going from a cheesy smile and an enthusiastic wave to a Glasgow smile and rasping animalistic garbling, Wyatt has continued to advance the character in new and innovative ways, with Fun House Bray’s promos being the non-competitive highlights of Raw.

It helps that The Fiend’s mask, created by Tom Savini Studios, wouldn’t be out of place in a slasher movie or a Slipknot concert. The barely audible demand to 'let him in' is spine-chilling. It is no coincidence that when The Fiend appears you think of your childhood dinosaur night light.
