10 Criminally Underrated Wrestler/Manager Combos

7. Doom/Teddy Long

Tag-team match, playa'.

Sorry, just had to get that Teddy Long as SmackDown GM joke out of the way before moving onto the serious business. That's the best way to describe Butch Reed and Ron Simmons as a musclebound tag: business. They were drifting along fine under masks with Woman, but they didn't come into their own until Long grabbed them.

Doom had quite the series of matches with The Steiner Brothers, The Rock 'N' Roll Express, Ric Flair & Arn Anderson and others after shedding the hoods. Honestly, if anyone is sitting there rolling their eyes at this praise, then check out how hard they worked with Rick & Scott at Capital Combat 1990 on the WWE Network. That's some good stuff.

When fans today think of Teddy as a manager, they tend to look at his time working with Mark Henry or Rodney Mack. Scrap that modern-day stuff though, because his time as the 'thuggin 'n' buggin soul brother' in WCW is where it's really at.
