7. Razor Ramon And Diesel Get Recast

A truly humbling moment for hardcore WWF fans came in late 1996. On television, a heel Jim Ross began verbally spouting off against Vince McMahon and announced that he had reached a deal to bring Razor Ramon and Diesel back to the company. Eyes were certainly opened by such a claim.

After all, both Scott Hall and Kevin Nash had found a new home in Ted Turner's WCW. Both had previously played the Razor and Diesel characters, and having only been gone for a few months they were surely not returning so soon. They weren't, but their well-known gimmicks were.

In what would prove a real low point for the promotion, the WWF enlisted Rick Bognar and Glenn Jacobs (better known as Kane) to fill the void. Nobody was fooled by this 'grand return', it came across as truly second rate. The supposedly top promotion in the entire industry had degenerated into a bad tribute show.

The company should be ashamed of themselves for peddling such nonsense, it was an affront to their fan base. Meanwhile, WCW must have been laughing heartily, while also calling up their legal team...
