10 Current Superstars WWE Has No Idea What To Do With

3. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler has featured prominently since the draft, and him vs. The Miz was one of 2016’s best feuds. No matter what role he has been asked to play, barely a SmackDown passes without Ziggler making some sort of appearance, but that doesn’t mean WWE know what they’re doing with him. WWE recognise that Ziggler is somebody the fans want to see on a weekly basis, but they’ve really struggled with his direction since the Miz feud ended.

Ziggler was portrayed as a complete loser through his feud with Dean Ambrose, and for much of the Miz feud itself. He did nothing as a face after losing the Intercontinental Championship, and turning heel was supposed to be the solution to his problems. It hasn’t quite worked out that way, however, and the turn has seen Ziggler shunted down the card to feud with the likes of Apollo Crews and Kalisto.

Putting him in a 2-on-1 handicap match at Elimination Chamber was a piece of nonsensical booking, and destroying two guys who aren’t over at all does nothing for Ziggler. It feels like WWE are desperately throwing angle after angle at Ziggler with the faint hope that something will stick, but it isn’t working out. Dolph is a natural heel and should definitely stick with this alignment for the foreseeable future, but he desperately needs direction, and the uppercard has moved on without him.
