10 Current WWE Stars Worth Their Weight In Gold
2. Edge
One of the reasons fans have grown to resent legends taking up spots on the card is that many of them will face off against a Superstar capable of putting on thirty-minute classics with just about anyone only to have a five-minute sprint of a match instead. After nine years on the shelf, nobody would have blamed Edge for being happy to slide into this pattern himself.
However, Edge has so far steadfastly refused to adopt this approach, for better and for worse. Despite having only wrestled a handful of matches since he returned, the Rated R Superstar has shown himself willing to put the hard graft in where so many others have not. While his WrestleMania match with Randy Orton was far too long, it contained moments of emotion few would have been able to pull off. Edge and Orton followed this up with their unfortunately billed 'Greatest Match Ever', which was far better than most expected and a welcome indication that Edge still has it in a normal match.
Edge's epic performance in the Royal Rumble, lasting all the way through without the mid-match break many in his position would take, only further went to show his desire to impress the fans. While some may reject giving the Rumble win to someone of Edge's age, he has shown multiple times since his return he is deserving of such a spot. Therefore, WWE have in Edge someone with a clear desire to work his ass off to prove he deserves his place, a combination they arguably haven't had since John Cena went part-time.
