10 Current WWE Superstars Who Should Adopt A Legend’s Finishing Move

The Stunner and Mandible Claw have been handed down. What should be next?

At WWE Raw Reunion we saw The Fiend Bray Wyatt attack Mick Foley with his own finishing move, the Mandible Claw. Given that Kevin Owens has also recently adopted Stone Cold Steve Austin's Stunner, could this be a sign that we will be getting more legends handing down their moves to current members of the roster? If this is to be the case, there are plenty of famed finishing moves which should make a return to regular WWE programming in 2019.

Allowing a wrestler to debut a new finishing move is a sure-fire way to freshen up a superstar, even if it's a finisher we've seen many times before. They give wrestlers an additional layer of depth in the ring, especially when added to limited or overly familiar move-sets. A different finisher can also be used to represent character development and even a total shift in personality. The move alone will only give a temporary boost but when combined with strong booking, can catapult a wrestler to a new level of stardom.

Some of the superstars on this list have a strong connection to the legend or move in question. That makes adopting the finisher very simple, with little fanfare needed. The same goes for more obscure moves which aren't as strongly associated with any one person. Some moves, however, are so iconic they would need to be acquired through story for maximum impact, or at the least be signed off on by the legend.

10. Bobby Lashley – Jackhammer

Used by: Goldberg

Does anyone know what Bobby Lashley's official finisher actually is?

He's gone through several since his return to WWE and it's difficult to keep track. Lately, he has been back on the Spear but, given that move belongs to The Big Dog, this may only be a temporary measure. For a while he was using a Delayed Vertical Suplex to finish matches. This move displayed an impressive amount of strength but didn't always look that strong. Swap out the suplex for Jackhammer though, and you have something a whole lot more devastating.

There are plenty of parallels that can be drawn between Bobby Lashley and Bill Goldberg. Lashley is in many ways a Goldberg protégé, given he's a Spear-wielding monster who was built off the back of an undefeated streak. Booking them in a feud together in 2019 therefore makes a lot of sense, even if fans will be nervous about seeing Goldberg again after Super ShowDown. But whatever your feelings on that match, there is no denying that Goldberg deserves a proper retirement match. And if Undertaker can come back to 'you still got it' chants, so can Da Man.

Bobby Lashley needs a big win if he's going to be a credible main event threat again. Have him beat Goldberg, inherit the Jackhammer, and then go on to fight Brock Lesnar.
