It's hard to pinpoint what exactly it is about Jack Swagger that makes him so uninteresting. It isn't his ring work, because Swagger can go when he wants to and when matched with the right opponent, and he certainly has the pedigree. He was an All-American wrestler at the University of Oklahoma and even holds a win over UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. Part of the problem is that Swagger is a black hole of charisma. His promos have never been anything noteworthy, which is the reason he's been placed with Zeb Colter, who is great on the mic. But now that Cesaro has split away from the Real Americans, Swagger and Colter don't have much going on other than serving as stepping stones to talent in line for a push and having the fans hum their theme song. Multiple title runs, including the World Heavyweight Championship, as well as his own mascot, the Swagger Soaring Eagle, have failed to get Jack over to any real level, and he's likely climbed as high on the ladder as he ever will. His role for the future looks to be nothing more than a mechanic who can be counted on for good mid-card matches.
