10 DDT & TJPW Wrestlers Who MUST Appear In AEW
5. Saki Akai
Saki Akai is also known as Sakisama when performing in Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling has been with DDT and its sister promotion since 2013. Akai made her debut in 2011 at Ice Ribbon’s 1st Anniversary Show and was trained by Masahiro Takanashi. Before joining DDT and TJPW she worked for other Japanese promotions including Stardom and SEAdLINNNG. Tokyo Sports awarded her the newcomer award during their end-of-year awards in 2014 along with this she was also ranked No. 445 in the PWI 500 in 2021.
She might not be on everyone’s radar, as the wrestlers of Stardom seem to get the most coverage from western audiences, but you shouldn’t sleep on this immensely talented joshi puroresu performer. Saki Akai is a multi-time Princess tag-team Champion while also holding the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship 21 times. Because DDT isn’t exclusively a male or female promotion it has allowed for mixed tag teams and factions to form within the company. Saki Akai has been a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champion alongside Yukio Sakaguchi and Kazusada Higuchi.
If Saki Akai made her way to AEW she could bring along Maki Itoh and Mei Saint-Michel to form a dominant faction to take on Yuka Sakazaki and Hikaru Shida. This would also be a great opportunity for Yuka’s Magical Sugar Rabbits tag-team partner, Mizuki, to also make the trip over.
