5. Daniel Bryan Begs For A 'YES!'

Long before Daniel Bryan was heroically unretired, he was frustratingly not, trapped on WWE's injured list awaiting clearance that wouldn't actually come for another two years.

Following his mid-2015 departure with significant head injuries, Bryan's stint on the sidelines was not a time he hid his frustration over. The former WWE Champion maintained the loyal fanbase from the 'YES Movement's 2014 peak, and suffered an awkward middle period between surrendering the Intercontinental Title and formally having to say farewell in early 2016.

His tearful goodbye occurred just weeks removed from AJ Styles' shocking WWE debut, making his departure all the more heartbreaking when most fans assumed a dream match between the bearded star and the 'Phenomenal' former NJPW and TNA stalwart may never take place. Weeks before the call that would devastate him, Bryan was instead an angry and confused presence on WWE's fringe, and made no secret of his annoyance after AJ arrived.

Bryan's further irritation with his unwanted in-ring exit would manifest in unashamed vocal protests on cult SmackDown Live! sister broadcast 'Talking Smack', before his 2018 return at long last satiated his need to return to the punishing grind of his one true love.
