10 Desperate WWE Superstars That Used Social Media As A Cry For Help

2. CM Punk Looks Elsewhere

A tweet that's lost little power in the four years its been exposed to the world and actually risen in resonance since Punk began his defence of himself against WWE's mighty legal muscle, his last official tweet as a WWE superstar betrayed the reality of a man pig-sick of pro wrestling - he was in fact quoting a legendary Dusty Rhodes promo.

In Rhodes' impassioned 1994 speech, he leans on "The view never changes" to explain why 'Double A' was wicked enough to turn on his innocent bystander son Dustin. Noting Anderson's failings as Ric Flair's eternal follower, he commented that "when you walk behind and you're not a leader, the view never changes baby... the view never changes!"

Punk's misgivings with the company that night had grown deeper after going the distance in a Royal Rumble match that has since become the subject of some courtroom disrepute. Fundamentally disallowed to be the leader and top star he believed he could be, he was destined not to headline WrestleMania as desired but take what he felt was a token gesture clash against Triple H. The view really hadn't changed for Punk despite his record-breaking WWE Title reign and tangible success - so he changed the view by himself.
